They were looking to belong” A classic blockbuster that tells gang war between two youth groups from different social ranks, one is a lower-class called The Greasers while the other is The Socs, a shortened for Socials, an upper-class youth group. This movie is interesting because it features many top notch future Hollywood stars namely Tom Cruise, Matt Dillon, Emilio Estevez, C. Thomas Howell, Diane Lane, Ralph Macchio and Patrick Swayze. Besides delivering social issues theme, The Outsiders mainly highlights the friendship and solidarity among gang members of the two social ranks. I guess, besides the fact that this film is timeless, I cannot say no more. Having had experience in creating gang-related major blockbuster films, Coppola managed to visualize The Outsiders as a very best feature like we all see today. This is a great film about coming of age, an insight of how rebellious teenagers can be. Nevertheless friendship and brotherhood are the selling points that make this film timeless. The choice of selecting Coppola as the film director was simply due to the facts that most students in Lone Star Elementary School, Fresno, California favorited the director’s masterpiece, The Godfather. Having had experience in creating gang-related major blockbuster films, Coppola managed to visualize The Outsiders as a very best feature like we all see today. This is a great film about coming of age, an insight of how rebellious teenagers can be. Nevertheless friendship and brotherhood are the selling points that make this film timeless. Some feels that there should be embellishments and adjustments in terms of music scoring which some critics considered inappropriate here and there, really? Seeing is believing, no words shall be able to represent the core elements of what make this film remains an all time favorite for general audience after more than two decades.
